/ Obraz świata przedstawiony w buddyjskich kosmologicznych opisach nie może być przedstawiony jako dosłowny opis kształtu wszechświata, gdyż jest niezgodny z astronomicznymi danymi, które były znane w starożytnych Indiach. Nie miał być opisem jak zwykli ludzie postrzegają Świat. Był to raczej opis wszechświata widziany “świętym okiem” (dibbacakkhu) Buddy i tego, kto osiągnął czwarty stopień świętości “arhat”. Mógł wówczas dostrzec wszystkie wszechświaty, rodzące się i umierające w nich istnienia oraz zobaczyć w jakim świecie byli odrodzeni i w jakim odrodzą się. Kosmologia ta została zinterpretowana w alegorycznym sensie jako dziesięć duchowych królestw /

/ The image of the World presented in Buddhist cosmological descriptions can not be presented as a literal description of the shape of the universe, because it is incompatible with astronomical data that was known in ancient Asia. It was not meant to be a description of how ordinary people perceive the world. Rather, it was a description of the universe as seen by the “holy eye” (dibbacakkhu) of Buddha and the one who achieved the fourth degree of holiness “arhat”. He could then see all universes, nascent and dying beings in them, and see in what world they were reborn and in which they would be reborn.
